Interfaith Service: “Connection, Gratitude, and Joyful Purpose”

    Opening Prayer

    Mighty Creator,
Thank you for bringing us together in the beauty of this place – where wind stirs the trees, fire warms our gatherings, and the stars guide our reflections.
Strengthen us as we challenge ourselves, support each other, and grow in spirit and in service.
May our time here deepen our connections, lift our hearts, and open our eyes to the path ahead.
    Amen.

Responsive Reading: “The Voice of Creation”

Leader: In the beginning, the world was wild and wide.

Scouts: And in that wildness, the voice of the Creator whispered.

Leader: The trees stood tall, the stars spread out, the rivers ran with song.

Scouts: And each called out in praise without words.

Leader: When we walk among the mountains or gather beneath the sky –

Scouts: We join the oldest chorus, the song of life.

Leader: Lift your eyes and look to the heavens:

Scouts: Who created all these? The One who calls each by name.

Leader: The Earth shares its blessings freely –

Scouts: May we receive with gratitude and give back with care.

ALL: Let our footsteps be gentle, our hearts open, and our service joyful.

    Interfaith Prayer: A Shared Gratitude

    Leader:

In this moment of peace, we pause to give thanks –

From the Christian tradition: “The Earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.” (Psalm 24:1)

From the Buddhist Dhammapada: “As a bee gathers nectar and moves on without harming the flower, so should the wise live in the world.”

From the Quran: “It is He who made the Earth tame for you – so walk among its paths and eat of His provision.” (67:15)

From the Hindu Bhagavad Gita: “He who sees Me in all things, and sees all things in Me, is never lost to Me, nor am I lost to him.”

From the Jewish Midrash: *”Do not destroy My world, for if you do, there will be no one to repair it after you.”

Spirit of Many Names, may we live in reverence.
May we give more than we take, heal what has been harmed, and walk forward with joy in our hearts.
    Amen.

Inspirational Reading: “The Path of Service”

    Leader:

“Do not worry in the least about yourself; leave all worry to God…
He who devotes himself to service with a clear conscience will grow richer in faith. The path of service can hardly be trodden by one who is not prepared to renounce self-interest… If we cultivate the habit of doing this service deliberately, our desire for service will steadily grow stronger and make not only for our own happiness but that of the world at large.”
    Mahatma Gandhi

    Message: “Our Shared Journey”

    Leader:

Here we are – a gathering of Scouts from different towns, backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences. And yet, we share something powerful: the journey.

Scouting teaches us more than knots and trails. It teaches us connection: to the Earth, to each other, and to something greater than ourselves.

Connection is the reason we help someone up the hill, or stay behind to clean up the fire ring. It’s the reason we laugh around the campfire or walk quietly through the woods. Connection reminds us that we belong – not just to a troop, but to a bigger story.

With that connection comes gratitude. Gratitude for those who led before us. For the land beneath our boots. For the chance to grow. Gratitude is what turns a simple moment into something sacred. It’s the difference between seeing a tree and recognizing it as a gift.

And out of gratitude grows purpose. Not just duty or obligation, but joyful purpose. A reason to serve, not because we have to, but because it fills us with something good.

So as we leave this place or move to the next part of our day, let’s carry three things:

    • Connection – the invisible thread that binds us.
    • Gratitude – for every step, lesson, and laugh.
    • Joyful purpose – in how we serve, lead, and live.

Because together, with open eyes and open hearts, we light the way forward.

    Closing Benediction

    Leader:

May kindness grow within you –
    Brightening each trail you walk.

May your actions be rooted in thoughtfulness,
And your spirit grounded in joy.

When challenges rise, may connection hold you.
When success comes, may you give thanks.

And as you go forward, may each step bring light to others,
    And peace to yourself.

    Amen.
